Special Soy Sauce

Sweet salty savory and so fckin spicy I cannot get enough of it when dressed all over my big fat vermicelli bowl. Maggie szning, sugar, lemon, thai bird chilies all that good simple shit, but when together... it’s all you need. Special soy sauce is what im calling it, and if it came in a bottle I just might drink it… or maybe that’s just me, and I would be ok w it - obviously. This recipe is vegan because my mother is celebrating lent, and therefore needed a substitute for typical fish sauce. Both sauces pair well with a tofu vermicelli bowl. Both are amazing on their own. 


  INGREDIENTS  

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Maggie Soy Seasoning
1 1/2- 2 lemons, juiced
2-3 thai bird chilies, sliced
1 1/2 cup hot water
  DIRECTIONS 

In a large bowl, combine sugar, lemon, chilies, and maggie seasoning. Add in hot water and stir until sugar is completely dissolved and the sauce is smooth.

Taste the sauce and adjust to your liking. Sometimes the dish needs a saltier sauce, add more maggie / salt. Sometimes I prefer it sweeter. This recipe makes the perfect sauce in my opinion but feel free to X the chilies if you do not like spicy, it will still be delicious!

Perfect to pair with a vermicelli bowl.
